On Saturday, June 25, Buster, Reggie, Kate & I traveled to Hillsboro, Ohio to attend the Highland County 4-H Fun Match. This event was sponsored by the K-9 Troopers and was held at the fairgrounds.

Buster & Kate received three ribbons this year -- 2nd place in Obedience, Novice B,  1st place in Junior B Grooming & Handling, & 2nd place in the Musical Dog Fun Game.

Kate also participated in the Skill-A-Thon event, which tested her knowledge on dog-related topics.

On Saturday, June 18, Buster, Kate & I traveled to Lebanon, Ohio to attend the Warren County 4-H Dog Fun Show.

Buster & Kate received two ribbons this year -- placing 3rd in Obedience, Novice B & placing 3rd in Junior B Grooming & Handling. Classes were judged according to the Ohio State Fair 4-H Division Livestock Book - Dog Activity Rules.

Kate also participated in the Skill-A-Thon event, which tested her knowledge on dog-related topics.

Buster and Kimmie, of Wallace's Kennel, successfully completed basic dog obedience training during a 15-week course at Big Times Kennel in Centerville, Ohio.

 

Buster, a black & tan long-haired dachshund, was trained by my daughter Kate. Kimmie, a black & tan, long-haired dapple, was trained by me. Ellie, a black & tan smooth dachshund, was trained by her owner, Pat Patty. Ellie came from Wallace's Kennel.

 

The obedience training consisted of 7 weeks in "Manners 101", and 8 weeks in the "AKC Canine Good Citizen Program."

 

Kate & Cyndi Wallace, with KimmieTests included: Accepting a Friendly Stranger, Sitting Politely for Petting, Appearance and Grooming, Out For a Walk (Walking on a Loose Leash), Walking Through a Crowd, Sit and Cyndi Wallace and KimmieDown on Command/Stay in Place, Coming When Called, Reaction to Another Dog, Reaction to Distractions, and Supervised Separation.

 

This training is an excellent way to bond with your dog! It provides regular basic obedience training and an opportunity to participate in Agility skills in the coming months.

 

Most of all, it is fun and relaxing for everyone involved!
